June 16, 2022How Candid Clear Aligners Compare to Traditional Braces
At first glance, Grand Rapids cosmetic dentist would call significant benefits.
and traditional metal braces seem similar — they both provide you with a stunning smile. However, a closer inspection reveals several key differences that ourHere's what you should know about
and what they can do for you. What Sets Candid Clear Aligners Apart?
Unlike braces, clear aligners like Candid allow you to eat an unrestricted diet. When it comes time to eat, just pop out your top and bottom trays and eat whatever you want. Chewy and sticky foods are no longer off the table but oral hygiene remains a constant.
Be sure to carefully place your aligners in their protective case when not in use and brush your teeth before placing them back in after eating. If you're not in a position to whip out your toothbrush, rinsing your mouth with water is fine for the time being. If teeth are not cleaned before aligners are put back in place, you risk bacteria accumulating on the plastic and staining.
Made from clear, smooth plastic fitted specifically to your mouth, Candid clear aligners fit comfortably on your teeth without anyone else having to notice. Traditional braces use clunky metal wires and brackets that not only cover your teeth, but can also irritate your cheeks and gums.
What Should I Expect During Treatment?
The process involves a series of clear, comfortable, plastic trays made specifically for your teeth. Using digital impressions and X-rays, each tray is custom-made for you. Following the precise movements planned out from the start, each new tray gradually shifts your teeth into their correct place.
Just wear a new tray every two weeks and let Candid aligners take care of the rest. With Candid, you can improve your mouth's appearance and function.
Average treatment takes about nine to fifteen months, using anywhere between eighteen to thirty Candid retainers, depending on the shape and structure of your teeth. Dr. Burggraaf will check in with your progress remotely using the CandidMonitoring™ mobile app to make sure treatment is going as planned.
Keeping Your Teeth Clean
Braces make it difficult to brush and floss all the hard-to-reach areas of your teeth. With Candid, you can brush and floss your teeth normally. No wires or brackets to navigate around. Your dental health will be better, and your smile will be more beautiful. Remember to also keep your aligners just as clean as your teeth and gums.
You can clean your Candid clear aligners by doing the following:
- Quickly rinse them under lukewarm water after they are removed from your mouth.
- Use your soft-bristled toothbrush and a small amount of clear antibacterial soap to get rid of any food bits that may have stuck around from an earlier meal.
- Carefully brush the inside and outside of the top and bottom aligner.
- Give them another rinse after you’re done brushing.
- Place back in your mouth or inside their protective case when not in use.
